Outlet Fashion and other shopping

Over the last few years Allariz has gained quite a reputation in Galicia and northern Portugal as a great place for shopping. Most popular and on top of most people's lists are the Outlet Fashion shops. Latest fashions at fantastic prices with dedicated shops for Massimo Dutti, Titto Bluni, Adolfo Dominquez, Roberto Verino and more..

Local crafts and traditional cakes shops can be found tucked away in the cobbled streets of the historic centre. There are plenty of farm supply shops – perhaps not exactly what you were needing on a holiday but they are here all the same – five supermarkets, fruit and vege shops, a fantastic fresh fish shop, butchers and so the list goes on.
As in most of Spain nearly all the shops open around 10.30 (supermarkets and newsagents a little earlier), close somewhere between 1.30 and 2 to reopen somewhere around 4.30 and 5 and then close again around 8.
Outlets are open Sunday but closed Monday.
Supermarkets are closed Sundays.
Bakeries and newsagents are open every day but only in the morning on a Sunday.
There are far too many to list them all but here are some that we use on a reasonably regular basis –no farm type shops though, sorry
Bread, Cakes and Pastries

FINA REY: Specialises in the traditional Allariz almond macaroon type biscuits. All the cakes, biscuits and chocolates are good here and Fina Rey also package them very nicely making them perfect for presents.

PASTELERIA OSI: They also sell the traditional Allariz biscuits but their speciality is chocolate and don’t say we didn’t warn you, they can be very addictive.

PANADERIA TOMAS: Specialising different breads and the Galician Empenada – a flat and round pastry pie with a variety of savoury fillings available. Want a recommendation then try the bacalhau it is delicious.

Supermarkets
The two largest are Dia (cheaper and a little more limited) and Eroski (wider range but more expensive).

Meat and Fish shops
SUPERMERCADO DARIO: Their lamb, veal and pork are of the highest quality but by no means the cheapest.

PESCADERIA MERCHE: The same applies here for a wide range of fish and sea food, always fresh and excellent quality but premium prices. The shop is a little out of the historic centre.

Gifts and Souvenirs
Leather Museum shop: Good quality leather crafts made by Ernesto and his cohorts.
O SARILLO: Alternative clothes and accessories from Galicia.
A TULLA. A variety of Galician crafts
O DESPACHO: A great shop run by a great character Ms Cache Oro. You never know what you might find in this shop that is full to bursting with antiques, memorabilia and what some would call junk.
MEDIA LUA: Galician crafts with silver a speciality
FLORISTERIA MARGARIDA: Plants and flowers for those last minute apologies or forgotten birthdays and anniversaries. She has just moved her shop to larger premises and can now be found in the Bus Station area.
LICORES ZIRALL: The traditional liqueur of Galicia is a firewater that goes by the name of Augardiente and Zirall make some of the best. The coffee version is dynamite while the cream version is a calmer introduction.
